National Project to Eradicate Rheumatic Fever
A serious threat to children, youth and the future of the country...but we can completely eliminate it from Egypt! We have detected more than 120,000 students and the rest are coming! We are searching for the genetic characteristics of the microbe to eliminate it completely
Project objectives
- Study of the prevalence of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease among school children in various governorates of Egypt
- Treating children with this disease in its early stages to prevent the spread of the disease and increase its effects, before the effect reaches the heart muscle and heart valves.
- Establishing follow-up clinics for these children in different governorates and performing the necessary heart surgeries.
- Study the interaction between the patient's genetic factors and the genetic factors of the streptococcus microbe, which lead to rheumatic heart disease.
- Make a protective serum against this disease.
- One of the secondary objectives that will result from this research is the early diagnosis of children with congenital heart defects, knowing the prevalence of congenital defects in school children, and treating these cases.
