World Heart Day celebration at Al Jazeera Club

World Heart Day celebration... under the auspices of the Egyptian Hearts Association Under the auspices and organization of the Egyptian Hearts Charitable Association, the Cultural Committee of the Gezira Club in Zamalek held a symposium to raise awareness of heart diseases, accompanied by a medical convoy for examination and medical tests by the most prominent cardiologists, pediatricians and lab technicians in Egypt, who are members of the association’s board of directors.

Today's Overview

Dr. Nashwa Al-Hajrasy, Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases at Misr University for Science and Technology, and a pioneer of intensive care medicine in Egypt, gave an important lecture on young people suffering from heart diseases as a result of bad eating and lifestyle habits, stressing that exercise is very important and that those who cannot go to the club can only jog for 15 minutes a day and can start with two minutes a day.

She also stressed that bad eating habits are behind heart and artery injuries, such as overeating fast food and soft drinks. Dr. Nashwa, who is the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Hearts of Egypt Association, called on young people and adults to go to the association’s headquarters for a free examination to check on heart health and learn how to prevent it.

Dr. Gamal Shaaban, Professor of Cardiac Surgery and former Dean of the Heart Institute, also gave a lecture in which he stressed that diabetes or high salt levels both affect the heart, and salts cause hardening of the arteries, so regular follow-up and attention must be given to young people.

In her speech, Dr. Amal Idris, a pediatric consultant and vice president of the association’s board of directors, stressed that caring for the heart should start from childhood. She should now check every now and then about her child’s vital organs, even if he does not complain of any illness, as early detection solves 90% of problems.
